Lake Design

We have been appointed by three different NHS organisations in the North West to design and produce significant reports.

Working with The Walton Centre Foundation Trust, the North West Specialised Commissioning Group and the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the agency has been tasked with an annual report, a patient facing publication and a report to be submitted to government.

For the Walton Centre, Lake produced the Patient Experience Strategy Report which outlined the trust’s approach and commitment to patients. The agency is currently producing the Lancashire Teaching Hospital’s annual review and Lorraine Kelly, the Trust’s Communications and PR Manager, commented, “Lake has certainly impressed me and our senior team – we think that this report is the best thing we’ve ever produced and that’s high praise indeed!”

Lake has also been appointed to produce the annual report for the NHS North West Specialised Commissioning Group, for the fourth year running.

During the last ten years, Lake has worked with more than twenty different NHS organisations in the North West, in addition to completing projects on a national basis for the Department of Health.

We have rebranded the antibacterial hand wipes brand, Sani+Hands, on behalf of Nice Pak International.

The rebrand of Sani-hands follows on from our successful design of another Nice Pak brand, Halo Wipes.

The packaging has undergone a complete redesign and is a result of in-depth research, which indicated that a new look was required to help convey Sani+Hands’ key messages to consumers.

Stocked in Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado and independent pharmacies across the UK, the packaging design has been softened to reduce the clinical feel, while the rejuvenated packaging has been modernised with updated typeface and colourways. The new pack is printed on a metallic gloss material, creating added shelf presence and enhancing the premium nature of Sani+Hands. In addition, the outer packaging has been designed into shelf-ready packs, ideal for counter top displays.

Marketing director at Nice-Pak International, Ian Anderson, comments: “Although our Sani+Hands range has gone from strength to strength, it became clear a more contemporary image was needed in order to engage more effectively with domestic consumers. I am delighted with the new packaging design and both the insight and creativity that Lake has brought to this project.”

We were recently asked to assist the police with their publications. We subsequently designed and produced the Greater Manchester Police Authority’s Policing Plan. The document outlined the force’s promises to the community and covered a range of policing issues. Exhibit A is pictured here for the jury’s consideration.

Other offences we’d like taken into account include a number of supporting posters that accompanied the main publication.

Of course this is just the latest in long line of public sector design projects we have undertaken, including work for the NHS and Keep Britain Tidy.

Silentnight… The best designed trucks on the road

Just over ten years ago, we created the livery for the trucks that deliver Silentnight Beds.

That same livery is still on their vehicles, trundling up and down the motorways of the north west and beyond.

This humble Manchester design agency doesn’t think that there are many examples of a piece of design that has lasted so long.
